The Fountain releases on DVD this week

The Fountain comes out on Tuesday

This Tuesday, one of the most notable DVD releases is The Fountain. I meant to see this movie when it was in theaters, but honestly, I never got around to it. The movie looks like it could be pretty good. The director, Darren Aronofsky, who’s most notable movies are Requiem for a Dream and Pi, always seems to churn out a great film. It’s funny how some of these Hollywood directors start out. Aronofsky started out his career writing for the game show TV series Supermarket Sweep. That show was great!

The only cast members that really jumped out at me in this movie are Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, but it’s usually typical for Aronofsky to have a not so brilliant cast. In the end though, it’s his brilliant directing that makes the movie what it is. I picked up this little tidbit on The Fountain:

“Instead of using CGI, Aronofsky chose to do the special effects for the film by using micro-photography of chemical reactions on tiny petri dishes. He has said that CGI would take away from the timelessness of the film and that he wants the film to stand the test of time.”

That’s pretty powerful stuff seeing how most films today use computer generated images extensively. All in all, I think this movie about the fountain of youth has potential. I’m looking forward to seeing it. I will post a trailer for it later this week to give everyone an idea of what it’s about.
Find this movie on ebay.
