The Drew Carey Show season 1 on DVD

The Drew Carey Show season one on DVD

Finally, The Drew Carey Show is on DVD

The first season of the Drew Carey Show releases tomorrow. In my opinion, the earlier years of this show, were the best. That’s why I’m looking forward to this DVD release. I can hear the 50’s style theme song in my head now, “Every single morning just to keep my job, I gotta climb my way through the hustlin mob…” (I know…I’m a loser..lol). Anyway this show really jump started some of the cast members careers. Obviously Drew Carey gained tons of recognition from this show, because it was his show, but the other cast members blossomed as well. Christa Miller (played Kate O’Brien) went on from this show to play a pretty prominent role in Scrubs. Ryan Stiles (played Lewis) went on to do Who’s Line is it Anyway? (coincidentally with Drew Carey and some other cast members from the show). The most notable success was found by Craig Furgeson (played Nigel Wick), who went on to get his own late night talk show.

The other cast members had minimal roles in other TV shows and movies. Diedrach Bader (Oswald) played minimal movie roles throughout his career. His most notable role pins him in Office Space as Lawrence, the funny and gross neighbor. I feel like Kathy Kinney (Mimi) easily got typecasted as Mimi. She hasn’t seen much success since the show went off the air. An interesting fact on Mimi, the writers of the Drew Carey Show, never meant to make Mimi a recurring character. They just had her in one episode and planned to move on without her. But, the audience reaction was so great and unexpected, that the writers made Mimi a regular character on the show.

In my opinion, this is one of the best season’s of the Drew Carey Show. Be sure to pick it up in stores this week and let me know if you like it or hate it!
