Smokin Aces is smokin hot!
Smokin Aces comes out on DVD this week. Forget about what you’ve heard about this movie. It needs to be given more credit than it has received. First off, the cast is amazing. Andy Garcia, Jeremy Piven, Ben Affleck (for some reason is listed as the star role on movie posters), Jason Bateman, Ray Liotta, Ryan Reynolds, and more making for a solid cast. There is plenty of action in this movie too. Think Snatch meets Ocean’s Eleven with a fast paced story line.
Jeremy Piven is great in this film. In fact, his personality mirrored that of Ari Gold (the character Piven plays in Entourage). The producers of the film realized this when getting this film together and immediately contacted Piven. If you like Jeremy Piven, then you will like this film. His portrayal of Buddy “Aces” Israel, a thug who messed with the mob and now must face the consequences, is great. Just give this movie a chance.

I respectfully disagree. I just watched this movie and the most positive comment I can muster, even with the excellent cast, was that the film was “alright.” There were plot holes big enough to drive Jeremy Piven’s limo through.
Saw the previews on TV. Looked cool. Not cool enough to go see. Think great cast meets rotten potatoes plot equals not for me. I might watch it if you rent it and you have some beer to entice me to watch it.
I was really excited for this movie, but it’s been out for a few weeks now, and I haven’t even gone out of my way to watch it yet. The film has gotten nothing but poor feedback from my customers, including those who we figured were going to be can’t miss for it. It’s still renting, but the sour looks haven’t stopped coming from people returning the dvd either.
