Alright, I’m going to be completely honest with you. I haven’t been able to get myself into this show. Don’t get me wrong, I think the cast is pretty decent, but there’s just something about CBS sitcoms that just make me shiver. It’s like all CBS sitcoms let alone shows are the same. I was never interested in their programming. Sometimes it takes a lot more than a great cast to churn out a quality television series.
The main charcter is played by Kevin James, who I think is hilarious, sometimes… Have you ever seen his stand up comedy special Kevin James: Sweat the Small Stuff? If you haven’t you need to see it because you will laugh for the entire hour. But I just don’t see Kevin James comedy projecting onto this show. Maybe because I just judged Kevin James by his comdey and not his acting. Nevertheless, I like his stand up better.
The show also features Leah Remini (Stacy from Saved By the Bell!), Jerry Stiller (Frank Costanza from Seinfeld, also in Zoolander), and Patton Oswalt. This is what seems like on paper, a decent cast. Again this goes to show how script writing can make or break a show. I feel like Jerry Stiller is playing the usual strange, loud, old man that he played in Seinfeld. Or maybe that’s type casting. What’s your guys take on King of Queens?

Alpha Dog came out on Tuesday, and honeslty, I’m on the fence a little about this movie. On the one hand, it looks like a great story line, it’s based on a true story based on Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer who turned out to be on the youngest people ever on the FBI’s most wanted list. On the other hand, Justin Timberlake is in it. I know people on here have mixed opinions about Justin Timberlake, some like him, and some don’t. I for one, don’t like his music, but it looks like he could be playing a decent role in this movie.
The rest of the cast is pretty decent. It includes Bruce Willis, Emile Hersch (Lords of Dogtown, The Girl Next Door) a bunch of other random up and comming young actors. The director Nick Cassavetes (who is also an actor, see: Blow, Face/Off, & Matlock LOL!) has also directed such movies as The Notebook and John Q. I haven’t gotten a chance to see this movie yet, but from what I heard, it’s pretty decent. I’ve heard mixed things about Justin Timberlake, I get the feeling people think he ruins it, but I think we can pull off the white trash drug dealer role. What do you guys think?

Smokin Aces was the top selling DVD last week. Damn. Other suprises? Not really. Happy Feet still managed to stay in the top 3. I don’t know how, but they managed it. Also other notables: Spiderman 2.1 cracked the top 10, mainly due to the massive hype Spiderman 3 is getting. Touche. And the Good Shepherd took a big drop, dropping down four spots.
1. Smokin Aces (New Release)
2. The Last King of Scotland (New Release)
3. Happy Feet
4. Freedom Writers (New Release)
5. Charlotte’s Web
6. The Pursuit of Happyness
7. Casino Royale
8. The Good Shepherd
9. Notes on a Scandal (New Release)
10. Spiderman 2.1

Movie trailer for this week’s new release, Dreamgirls
Here’s the movie trailer for Dreamgirls, one of the hit releases this week. After watching the trailer this movie reminds of that kinda Ray-style film. It’s interesting to see the whole 1950’s struggling african-american musician thing from a woman’s point of view.

Remember the classic family movie The Sandlot? It was about a group of kids that played baseball in an old beat up field, and went through different mishaps to figure out who they really were. Well now, the Sandlot 3 has been released. Lame. Why keep making sequels to movies? Are people buying this? The production budget for this movie better have been next to nothing or else the movie studio won’t be making much money. Let’s analyze the Sandlot 3 a little more in detail.
So who’s the start of the film you ask? None other than Luke Perry. That’s right, Mr. 90210. Perry plays baseball superstar Tommy Santorelli. On top of the weak cast, there is no doubt a weak director. William Dear, who directed such movies as Harry and the Hendersons & Angels in the Outfield, managed to make this movie the only way he knew how: crappy.
The Sandlot 3 is a perfect example of when Hollywood needs to draw the line on this nonsense. The first Sandlot, was a respectable movie. It was a movie that I watched as a kid, and no doubt some of you did to. But come on! The Sandlot 3? I’m sure the Sandlot 2 wasn’t a big hit to even warrant the production of the third one. Nevertheless, this movie is the Lame DVD of the week. I’m sure you can take a couple guesses as to why.

The Hitcher makes me wonder when Hollywood will learn
On Tuesday, the Hitcher will release on DVD. This movie looks like every other cheesy and lame hollywood horror film. The movie is about a couple that encounters a hitchhiker along their spring break trip. And well, I’m pretty sure you know how it turns out. The hitchhiker probably ends up killing everyone and blah blah blah the end. I’m sooo sick of these lame Hollywood movies that just suck; can they not come up with anything better than this? Let’s analyze why this movie is so bad.
First off, this film is directed by Dave Meyers. Who? Yeh that’s right THE Dave Meyers. He directed such music videos for artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Creed, and Britney Spears. So this is guy is fairly new to the movie scene, I’ll give him that. I’ll also cut him some slack because movies are hard as hell to make and bravo for him to do it. But, the cast is just horrendous. The two starring roles are filled by Sean Bean (Trevelyan in Goldeneye) and Sophia Bush (from One Tree Hill). That’s the best you could do? This is just too easy to pick apart. I’m going to save the rest of it to you. Check this movie out if you’re looking for a cheesy action-Hollywood horror film.
