Lame DVD of the week: Caffeine
Caffeine is almost as funny as Breckin Meyer’s career
This is the week of new segments! Starting this week, I will be doing segments entitled Lame DVD of the week. In these posts I will be pretty much bashing cheesy, horrible, lame movies that have been released to DVD. If you beg to differ, than please, leave a comment. So let’s dive right into it.
This week Caffeine was released to DVD. I know what you’re saying, “What?”. Yeh, exactly. I’m pretty sure this movie was released straight to DVD, if not than it was a very VERY limited release. I’m not sure if people would pay to go see this movie, that’s why I’m leaning towards straight to DVD. Anyway, the cast includes Breckin Meyer, who was made famous by the movie Road Trip (he was Josh, the main character), Mena Suvari (best known for her roles in American Pie, American Beauty, Spun, and a list of real crappy movies), and some other “up and comming actors.” It was directed by John Cosgrove, who previously produced TV shows such as Unsolved Mysteries. I think Cosgrove should’ve stuck to television because this is in no way a promising directing debut.
Caffeine the movie does exactly the opposite of what caffeine the drug does: it will put you to sleep, or force you to turn off the TV and go to such desperation as to watch Idol Chat on the TV Guide Channel. Seriously, it seems like they just picked up these actors off the street and gave them a job for a month, and thus this movie was completed. Most of the stars in this film are seeing their career hit the downward spiral, with the only exception Mena Suvari. I would like to inform everyone that I have NO intention of watching this movie. I am not wasting my time. If you have seen it, please share your reaction and comments with us.
