Lame DVD of the Week: Because I Said So

Because I Said So earns the honors this week

Every week there is at least one movie where you stop and say, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” Well this week was no exception. In this week’s monthly installment of Lame DVD of the Week, I bring to you the movie Because I Said So. Now this movie has all the makings for a lame movie. It’s got a very lame cast and a lame director, not to mention story/plot line.

So let me start with the cast. Because I Said So stars Dianne Keaton who’s starred in such films as Baby Boom, First Wives Club, and The Family Stone (bleh). Her co-star is singer turned actress Mandy Moore. The rest of the cast includes a bunch of B minus celebrities including many TV personalities. The director of the movie is Michael Lehmann. Who’s Michael Lehman you ask? Well he’s the director that directed such sensational 90’s movies like Airheads, My Giant, and The Truth About Cats and Dogs. All those movies with the exception of Airheads, were AWESOME! (sarcasm.)

Last but not least we come to the lame plot. Dianne Keaton plays a mother who tries to set up her daughter with a man because her daughter attracts psycho boyfriends. Fun stuff. Who better than cool and hip Dianne Keaton. Because we all want our mothers picking our significant others for us. Maybe the movie should be renamed: How Mandy Got Her Groove Back With The Help of Diane Keaton. Sounds good to me.
