Freedom Writers, same story, different title

Freedom Writers is being released on Tuesday. It’s a story about a teacher who gets the courage to try and inspire her students to consider continuing their education after high school and go for their dreams. These kids are underprivileged and come from rough areas of the hood. Hilary Swank plays Erin Gruwell, the heroic teacher.

Can somebody say Dangerous Minds? Seriously it seems like they just replaced Michelle Pfeiffer with Hilary Swank. The only thing they don’t have is a rapper endorsing the movie with his great songs (See Coolio, “Gangsta’s Paradise’). Oh wait they do. Enter hip-hop and R&B star Mario. Well then, I guess it’s safe to say that this movie is the Dangerous Minds of 2007. Been there, done that.
